Description

You are far from alone if you are having difficulties dealing with changes, disappointment, and powerlessness during the pandemic. In a recent article for TalkSpace, licensed therapist Cynthia Catchings, Executive Director at the women’s Emotional Wellness Center offered up these helpful tips.

  • Take breaks from watching, reading, or listening to news stories.
  • Take care of your body. Exercise, meditate, breathe!
  • Make time to relax. Think about the activities you enjoy and do them as often as you can.
  • Connect with others. Talking to people, while practicing physical distancing, and keeping a positive outlook can be beneficial to you as well as the other person.
  • Take time to talk with your loved ones about the COVID-19 outbreak.
  • Reassure the elderly and children in your life that they are safe. Let them know it is OK if they feel worried or upset — but try and reassure them and keep them safe by following public health guidelines.
  • Try to keep to your regular routines.
  • Be a role model for those around you both virtually, and in-person.
